What is a Scientist Activities That Kids Will Love

|

At the beginning of the year, I love to find fun activities that will get students excited about science. We love to learn about different types of scientists and what they do. Here is a list of some easy ideas to teach what a scientist is and science procedures in the classroom. In this post, I’ll share how to teach what is a scientist by using low-prep hands-on and distance learning resources.

Low-prep What is a Scientist Activities for Elementary Students

In elementary kids learn that scientists are people who love to solve problems. These ideas will help you teach:

  • What is a scientist
  • What scientist do
  • Explain why safety is necessary for a science room
  • What tools do scientists use to make observations
  • How to make observations

Vocabulary Posters and What is a Scientist Activities

I love using real-life photos and low-prep worksheets to teach vocabulary words. The words we discuss when talking about scientist are; observation, experiment, question, scientist, record, explain, and safety.

Low-Prep Digital Activities: Students Will Love

Another great low-prep activity to use is digital slides. Digital slides are great early finisher work/science center activities. With the help of a parent or grownup, I like to give my students fun activities that they can do using a tablet or computer (in my class or at home). In addition, Google Slides are a great option for distance learning or homework assignments as well!

What is a Scientist Flipbook

Mini Research projects are another way I love to get my students to learn about scientists. Having students work on flipbooks like this one makes a great mini-research option. Flipbooks are a fun way to incorporate the content into your classroom and make a perfect end-of-the-unit assessment.

Low-Prep What is a Scientist Activities for Kids

Teaching your class about what is a scientist and scientist safety is one of the first science topics I teach at the beginning of the year. My class loves to learn about different types of scientists and talk about the fun things we are going to learn throughout the year. Learning about scientists makes an engaging topic to teach with research projects and hands-on activities.
