January Anchor Charts | Popular January Activities for Your Classroom
Welcome back to a fresh start to the new year! As you get settled into your classroom in January, why not add some colorful January anchor charts and visuals to brighten things up? Kids learn best when they can visualize what is being taught. Have fun with it – there are so many creative ways to educate students while keeping them engaged. Here are some must-have January anchor charts that will make learning come alive in your classroom or homeschool setting!
Goal setting for kids
Setting goals is important for students because it can help them focus on what they want to achieve and work towards. When students have specific goals in mind, they are more likely to be motivated and achieve them. By setting goals, they can begin to develop a plan for their future and work towards becoming the person they want to be.
There are so many different ways for students to set goals. One particularly great way is to have your class make a list of the things they want to accomplish, or the dreams they have for the future. Have your class share their ideas with one another. You can also include their goals on an anchor chart to display around the room.
The history of New Years
Another fun anchor chart to include in your class can focus on the history of New Years. On your anchor chart include different ways different cultures have celebrated the holiday. For example, by share how the Chinese New Year is celebrated with fireworks and parades, students can learn about the origins of some of the traditions that are now common during New Years celebrations.
Additionally, add how different countries mark the start of a new year. By teaching students about the history of New Years, educators can help them better understand this important holiday and its cultural significance.

How to stay organized with January anchor charts
One of the most important skills that students can learn is how to get organized. This topic makes a perfect poster or anchor chart in your class. Brainstorm systems for keeping track of school work, personal belongings, and schedules that you want your class to review. There are a number of different ways to teach this skill, but one easy way is to make an anchor chart to display around the room.
Share New Years traditions
One way for students to share their New Year’s traditions with their classmates is by writing about it. You can also have them write on a post-it then add it to an anchor chart for their class to read. Sharing traditions can be a great way for students to learn about their classmates and their families.
Some things that students could share are how they spend New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, what they do to celebrate the New Year, and any special traditions that they have. Sharing these traditions can help create a sense of community in the classroom and can help build relationships with classmates.
All about penguins with fun January anchor charts
Penguins are a great animal to teach kids about during the winter months. They are interesting creatures that live in a unique environment. Penguins can be found in the Southern Hemisphere, and they thrive in cold weather.
One of the best ways to teach kids about penguins is by using an anchor chart. An anchor chart is a great way to visually depict important information about a topic. You can include facts about their habitat, diet, and behavior. Kids can help you create the chart, and then they can refer to it as they learn more about penguins.
All about polar bears using an anchor chart
Polar bears also make fun January anchor charts. You can add facts such as “A polar bear is a type of bear that lives in cold Arctic climates. They are the largest land carnivores in the world and have a thick coat of fur that helps them stay warm in frigid temperatures. Polar bears mainly eat seals, which they hunt by swimming through the icy waters and waiting for one to surface.”
You can create an anchor chart about polar bears by drawing a picture of one on a large piece of paper or whiteboard. Then, you can write key facts about polar bears on the chart. Some things you may want to include are their habitat, diet, size, and how they hunt for food.
