How to Teach Good Citizenship to Your Kids

During second grade, students learn different characteristics of a good citizen and ways to be a great classmate/good citizen in their classroom. The month of August and September is a perfect time to incorporate good citizenship activities into your curriculum.

Teach Good Citizenship Activities with Videos

Here are a few of my favorite videos to teach good citizenship virtually:

Introduce Good Citizenship with Slides

I LOVE showing a good PowerPoint or Google slides show to my class. It is a great way to introduce a new topic and have the students take notes while they listen.

See the Good Citizenship Digital Slides I use or create your own by using PowerPoint or Keynote. The great part about Google is that it is easy to email the activities to your parents and have them learn along with their kids. This is a perfect activity for distance learning too.

Read About Good Citizenship with Books

Here are a few of my favorite books to teach good citizenship virtually:

The Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Peña

Teach Good Citizenship Virtually With Fun Worksheets

Another fun way to teach good citizenship is with interactive worksheets. After working on a worksheet, I like having my class discuss what answers they came up with. It is an easy way to further their learning and a quick way to assess which students may need a bit more help learning about the topic.
