4 Simple February Anchor Charts for Your Classroom
Valentine’s Day is a time of love and appreciation, and it’s also an excellent opportunity to get creative in the classroom! Anchor charts can be a great way for teachers to introduce fun Valentine’s Day-themed material to their students. From counting activities to reading comprehension, here are some fun February anchor charts for classrooms you can use in your classroom this holiday season!
Groundhog Day Anchor Chart
Groundhog day is an important holiday in February that celebrates one of the most beloved groundhogs, Punxsutawney Phil! Create an anchor chart focusing on Groundhog Day to help your students understand the importance of this holiday. You can include facts about Punxsutawney Phil, what he does on Groundhog day, and why he is so important to American culture.
Another fun alternative to this anchor chart is to turn it into a class poll. Take a piece of chart paper and draw a bar graph using thick Crayola markers. Title the anchor chart and record each student’s yes or no to the popular question, “will the groundhog see his shadow?”. After each student has voted, color in the bar graph and then wait and see what the groundhog does.

History of Valentine’s Day Anchor Chart
Valentine’s Day has been around for hundreds of years! Have your students discuss some of the customs associated with celebrating this memorable holiday. Ideas might include things like sending cards, giving gifts, or eating chocolates. Make sure they don’t forget to talk about St. Valentine himself. Students can learn about who was he, and why did he become so closely associated with love? You can also have them research symbols used throughout history, such as Cupid or roses, to represent love and affection.
Ways to Show Kindness: February anchor charts for classrooms
Valentine’s Day is all about showing love and kindness toward others. Make an anchor chart that outlines different ways to show kindness towards each other every day – not just on Valentine’s Day! Ideas could include things like helping someone out with a task or writing kind notes for family members or friends. Other activities might include donating items to charity, or volunteering at a local animal shelter or food bank.
Books About Valentines Day Anchor Chart
Last but not least, encourage your students to read books related to Valentine’s Day. By creating an anchor chart featuring titles they may want to check out, such as “Be My Valentine Charlie Brown” by Charles M Schulz or “Roses Are Pink Your Feet Really Stink” by Diane de Groat. This will give them plenty of ideas for stories they could enjoy reading together during class or even at home with their families!
